The Scottish Local Government Conference which met on Tuesday received the result of the branch and member consultation on industrial action, this resulted in a rejection of a programme of industrial action against the employers actions. However what it did clearly highlight is that members clearly were concerned about pay but that their priorities at this time was to protect and defend their jobs and services. A formal dispute has today been lodged with the employers in respect of their imposition of a non negotiated pay award. We would clearly hope that they would wish to meet with the trade unions to seek a resolution, however failing that the matter will be referred to ACAS for arbitration.

2010/11  0.65%

2012/13  0%

The Joint Secretaries and Chair of the Trade Union Side met with the employers yesterday where we sought further discussions on reshaping and re distribution of the current offer. At no time did the employers indicate that they intended to withdraw the offer and impose a lesser one.

·         An increase of 3% or £600 on all Spinal Column Points whichever is the greater

·         Any settlement should be weighted towards the lower paid

·         A minimum wage of £7 per hour should apply in line with the Scottish Living Wage Campaign
