VENEZUELA AND FRIENDS
Date: Saturday 29 October 2011, 10.30 to 17.00 Followed by: SOCIAL - salsa lessons at 5 pm; music and dancing from 6 onwards Venue: STUC, Woodlands Road, Glasgow
Venezuela under Hugo Chavez has halved poverty, provided healthcare to millions for the first time and eliminated illiteracy But when we hear about it in the British media it's normally in negative terms suggesting it's a dictatorship. Lies! It has a thriving democracy with elections, referenda and a diverse media. Faced with hostility, Venezuela has turned away from the USA and forged the ALBA alliance with other radical Latin American countries, which is showing the world that 'a better world is possible'!!!
