Health & Safety

UNISON believe that everyone has the right to work in a safe environment.  The Branch campaign locally for better workplace conditions and report on employers when they fail to comply with legislation.

The Branch has a large network of Health & Safety Reps locally who, through workplace inspections, bring Health & Safety to the top of Employers agendas.  The Branch also has a Health & Safety Officer, Louise Trayner, who aids the Reps through the jungle of legal issues with ease, by using her extensive knowledge of Health & Safety Law.

Health & Safety Reps are elected annually by members in their workplace.  The Branch assists new recruits by putting them through TUC training courses.  These courses are during normal working hours and the Branch pays allowances for meals and travelling costs.
